Emergency Ballasts

Emergency ballasts are designed for fluorescent lighting fixtures and feature a durable steel housing with an integrated high-capacity nickel-cadmium battery. The internal circuit includes both a charger and an inverter. Operating on a 120/277VAC dual-voltage system, these units comply with all NEC and Life Safety Code requirements and are certified to IEC60598-2-22 standards. Equipped with cold-start capability, LED status indicators, and a test button, emergency ballasts are widely used in shopping malls, hospitals, schools, subway stations, and office buildings to ensure uninterrupted illumination during unexpected power outages.

Ensure that the ballast matches the wattage of the fixture. Standard emergency operation duration is 90 to 180 minutes, though extended durations may be required for certain applications. Choose between internal or external installation types depending on the fixture. For humid or outdoor environments, the ballast must meet at least IP65 protection standards.

  • Manual Test: Use the test button to manually switch to emergency mode and check brightness and duration.
  • Linked Test: Simulate a fire alarm signal (such as a dry contact signal) to verify proper synchronization with the fire protection system.
